The "Synergy" project was launched in seven countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in the second half of 2011, in partnership with 10 organisations.

The "Synergy" project aims to strengthen prevention and care in situations of abuse and sexual violence against young girls, boys and adolescents, thanks to wide-ranging simultaneous actions in seven countries: Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

Its specificity is to implement mechanisms that integrate children at individual level, but also their families, their communities or local institutions.

The project has specific components tailored to each country’s situations. The actions that have been implemented aim at both prevention and support for young victims and take into account the different scenarios and types of stakeholders. The goal is to educate people in-depth to an approach of "welltreatment", particularly by actively involving children and adolescents within the framework of initiatives set up in schools, colleges and community organisations.

Ten local organisations are involved in this major project that BICE is proud to have initiated. These organisations participate in the project financing, as do the Oak Foundation and the Air France Foundation, amongst others.

The first concrete actions were launched in the fall and we will sometime soon provide information on the progress made in the first six months.

"Synergies" is part of the overall fight against child abuse initiated in 2011 by BICE.
